Rupa Ranganathan is an advertising and public relations practitioner from India who has been deeply rooted in the U.S. multicultural marketing practice. She handles PR and Investor Relations for a leading private equity firm that invests in India and other emerging economies in Asia.
Since 1998, she has led the ethnic marketing practice for a well-known New York based conference firm and has directed over 75 executive conferences relating to the robust growth of U.S. Hispanic, Asian-American, African-American, Urban and other niche segments. She has also provided strategic business to business intelligence, market research and public relations counsel to a number of multicultural research and advertising firms.
She has provided qualitative research insights to companies seeking to build their relationships with the growing South Asian population in the United States since 2003 moderating focus groups and providing qualitative cultural intelligence and insights.
She has extensive experience in the area of healthcare marketing and communications, having worked with Asia's leading healthcare group -The Apollo Hospitals Group, as their General Manager, Marketing and Public Relations between 1993-1996.
Her perspectives on multicultural marketing and communications have been featured in Pharma Voice, Design Display & Ideas, Tampa Tribune, Marketing y Medios, Hispanic Marketing & PR, PRSA, QRCA's View and various other trades. In India, her perspectives have appeared in The Hindu Businessline, Economic Times and The Independent.
She has addressed various groups including the 17th Annual Educational Travel Conference, Kellogg School of Management MBA students, Asian American Advertising Federation and MMR's Multicultural program at NYU, and Healthcare Businesswomen's Association and the National Organization for Divesity in Sales & Marketing.
Life member with the New York based South Asian Journalists Association, she was also on the board of Raleigh North Carolina based, National Organization for Diversity in Sales and Marketing. She is also an early supporter of New York based South Asians in Media and Marketing Association.
In 2006 and 2007, she was invited to judge the Asian American Advertising Federation's Annual Awards and has served two terms on the Board of Directors for the Asian American International Film Festival in New York City.
Rupa is Charter President of the Rotary Club of Madras Shakti, based in Chennai, India, which began with the mission of enrolling women members to the club.
Rupa serves as a literacy volunteer in Morris county, NJ and helping immigrants prepare for the U.S. Citizenship Test.
